It all really started with Per’s love for the ocean. His family has been fishing here since 1954, and he vividly remembers the days when the massive 100-foot trawlers docked at the pier to land their herring.
When the boats were later sold, Per wanted to preserve the soul of the place. The idea he presented to his wife, Siv, was modest: renovate the pier, rent out a room or two to cover the costs, and keep it as a quiet hobby on the side. But Dønna held a secret – it wasn’t just the fishing hauls that were incredible out here, but the “tourist hauls” too.
Rumors of the family’s warm hospitality spread faster than anyone could have imagined, and soon the hobby became a booming business that their son, Fredrik, also joined.

And sometimes it happens, right where Per Kristian used to hunt herring with his great fishing boat, that an orca majestically breaks the surface.
